The Clothing Store Made of Three Stacked Shipping Containers

Aether Opens San Francisco Clothing Store Made of Three Stacked Shipping Containers

Outdoor clothing company aether apparel has just opened their new ‘hayes valley store’ hosted by the proxy project in san francisco, california.

Designed by local practice envelope A+D in collaboration with chris french metal, the project consists of three standard – 8-foot by 9.6-foot by 40-foot – shipping containers stacked on top of one another and offset slightly. The cantilevering section is cut out and encased in glass to create a striking element hovering above the main entrance.

Reclaimed oak floors break up the otherwise industrial metal character of the materials, complete with a conveyor belt that penetrates all three floors constantly rotating perched articles of clothing throughout all the spaces.
